About Mike Rockow
Mike Rockow lives at 222 Ladue Road with his wife, Pam, and kids Stephanie and Bryon.
A native of our community, Mike Rockow is seeking to be elected to the Monroe County Legislature to represent the hardworking taxpayers of Clarkson, Hamlin & Sweden.
The Rockow family tradition of service to the community has stretched for generations. Before there were firehouses in the area, the Rockow home served as the Town of Hamlin’s fire dispatcher. This made the Rockows familiar among local farmers and firefighters, in addition to local residents and St. John Lutheran Church’s parishioners.
Mike was born in the Town of Clarkson and was raised in the Town of Hamlin, where his parents once ran a farm. He attended elementary and junior high school at St. John Church in Hamlin, and Brockport High School.
During Mike’s senior year at Brockport High, he first met his high school sweetheart Pam, who would became his wife. After landing a job with Taylor Instruments, Mike and Pam married in 1979, living in the Village of Brockport and, later, the Town of Hamlin. In 1986 and 1988, they had their two children, Stephanie and Bryon. Stephanie graduated from Keuka College in May 2008, and Bryon will be entering his senior year at Slippery Rock University in PA this fall.
Professionally, Mike has long worked in the manufacturing and productions field. With Taylor Instruments, which was later bought by ABB Instrumentation, Mike held a variety of positions, including senior manufacturing technical supervisor, quality engineer, and product support specialist. When ABB relocated its branch to Pennsylvania in 1999, Mike opted not to follow, instead keeping his family in the Town of Sweden. He soon found employment as a sales representative with Transcat Inc., a process and control instrumentation distributor, and in 2001 transferred to RAMSCO, a local distributor of site utility products for the water, sewer, and drainage industry. First as an outside sale representative and now as the branch manager, Mike enjoys responsibility for all aspects of the local branch.
Throughout the years, Mike has also remained very active in local sports and recreation as a member of the Sweden/Clarkson Recreation & Parks Advisory Council, Director of the Brockport Ski Club, and Former Presidentof the Brockport High School Football Booster Club. In fact, Mike was the recipient of the Sweden/Clarkson Recreation Community Service Award in recognition of his service with these groups and his commitment to coaching a variety of local baseball and basketball teams.
Mike and Pam, live in Sweden at 222 Ladue Road, with their children Stephanie and Bryon and their Irish Setter.
